What we don't know still far exceeds what we do.

If our spacecraft reaches Venus, we'll have reached the stars before midnight tonight.

This country was conquered by those who moved forward, and so will space.

The exploration of space will go ahead, whether we join in it or not.

No nation can lead if it stays behind in the space race.

We mean to be a part of it, and we mean to lead it.

We have vowed to fill space with instruments of knowledge, not weapons of mass destruction.

Whether it will become a force for good or ill depends on us.

But some say, "why the moon? Why choose this as our goal?"

We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things.

Not because they are easy, but because they are hard.

Because that goal will serve to organize and measure our energies and skills.

It is a challenge we are ready to accept, one we will not postpone, and one we intend to win.
